Day 5

Oct.10 Friday

Hi all !
All going great out here in the old west.
Today we are going to Rainbow Bridge. We have to be there at 7:30am and get back around 4pm.

We got up so early we got to see the moon set about 6am.

Can you see us on the boat ? It is a 3 hour trip out, 1 hr there, and 3 hours back.

Did you find us on the boat ? If you did, that was not us. We were on the other boat. This was the scenery out and back.
Over 1900 miles of coast line. There has been a big drought out here and the lake is down 100ft from the last time we were here in 2000.

This butte is just over 5000ft high.

Sue found someone she could talk to.

Layers of time.

Heading into Rainbow Canyon.

The excitement builds.

Because the water is down we have a 1 1/2 mile hike to the bridge.
If you look at the rock, the lower white rock is where the lake has dropped,
so that line is 100 ft above the surface. So you can see how high the canyon
is here.

.

We made it ! And they only had to carry me the last half mile.
It's hard to have you get the size of this thing. We are about a half mile from it. The top part of the
arch is over 40 ft. You could put the Statue of Liberty inside the arch with room to spare.

It just doesn't look that big from here. But if you look real close
you can see people standing on the left bank in front of it.

On the way out of the park we saw this coyote. I think tonight is a full moon.

Well another great day. Weather has been awesome.

On to Bryce Canyon tomorrow.
